Antonio Ghio – MITLA President, Partner – Fenech & Fenech Advocates
Antonio is a partner at Fenech & Fenech Advocates and heads its TMT Law Department.
For the past twenty-five years his work has solely revolved around ICT law issues, trying to find
solutions to the constant struggle existing between law and technology, both inside and outside
of the courtrooms. Ghio lectures ICT law and Cyber Crime at the University of Malta. He also
held the position of Chairman of the Malta Communications Authority as well as EU Digital
Champion for Malta. Ghio is a founding member and current president of the Malta IT Law
Association and is also a fellow of the European Law Institute.
Deo Falzon – MITLA PRO, Senior Associate – Fenech & Fenech Advocates
Deo is an elected member of the The Chamber of Advocates and MITLA he practices mainly in TMT including litigious matters and gaming matters. He specialises in Intellectual Property and is well versed in information technology, gaming law and healthcare/pharmaceutical regulatory issues as well as Privacy matters.
Alexia Valenzia – Lead Associate – Camilleri Preziosi Advocates
Alexia is a Lead Associate within the firm, focusing in particular on intellectual property, pharmaceutical and healthcare, technology and privacy laws. Her practice spans both contentious and non-contentious issues, with a focus on trademarks, and copyright protection. Alexia formed part of the Malta IT Law Association’s Executive Committee from 2019-2022, serving as the committee’s secretary from 2020-2022.
Kris Bartolo – Partner, Financial Advisory – Zampa Partners
Kris is a Certified Public Accountant and Registered Auditor who graduated from the University of Malta after completing the Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) Degree. In 2014, Kris joined Zampa Partners and was appointed Partner in 2021, leading the financial advisory function. Throughout his work experience, he was exposed to various funding projects, preparation of business plans, feasibility studies, financial modeling, valuations, cost-benefit analysis, fundraising for the private sector and other financial advisory assignments.
Martyna Sawicz – Enforcement Manager – Abion
Martyna has enjoyed her work in IP for a decade, focusing on online monitoring and enforcement strategies for brands of all shapes and sizes, including, publishing houses and media, finance, fashion, sporting clubs and betting brands, as well as various London start-ups. As part of Abion’s Brand Protection division, Martyna works closely with clients to tackle unauthorised brand misuse through a blend of creative yet pragmatic and sustainable strategies. Combining legal and investigative insights with administrative tools, commercial awareness, and technology-mindful solutions, Martyna has helped many brands and business owners navigate a variety of issues, from impersonation scams to software piracy and product counterfeiting.

Paul Gatt – General Counsel – Gentoo Media, Board Member MITLA
Paul is General Counsel at Gentoo Media—formerly part of Gaming Innovation Group—where he leads the company’s Legal and Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) functions. He plays a key role in advancing the company’s strategic objectives, with a strong focus on mergers and acquisitions and cross-border transactions. Paul is an alumnus of the University of Malta, the London School of Economics, and the University of Glasgow, where he pursued studies in business and corporate law. He also serves as an executive board member of the Malta IT Law Association (MITLA) and is an affiliate member of the prestigious International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL).
Claudio Caruana – General Counsel – Gaming Innovation Group
Claudio has over a decade of experience in the gaming industry, beginning his career at a FFF Legal and ARQ Group with a focus on gambling regulation, privacy, and corporate law. He has played a key role in numerous transactions across diverse sectors, leading complex legal processes with strategic insight. Claudio is the General Counsel of GiG, also heading up the Governance, Risk and Compliance department and holds the MLRO position. He sits on the executive management committee and is the company secretary to the board. Since 2017 he has steered the group through a rapidly evolving risk and regulatory landscape and through a period of transformation. He holds a Doctorate in Law from the University of Malta and a Master’s degree in Internet and Telecommunications Law & Policy from the University of Strathclyde.
Francesca Warrington – Senior Legal Counsel – Betsson
Francesca is Senior Legal Counsel at Betsson Group, where she is an integral part of the Commercial & Product Legal team, specializing in Intellectual Property Law. She earned her Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Malta in December 2009 and was admitted to the Bar in March 2010. She furthered her education with a Master of Laws degree in Commercial and Corporate Law from Queen Mary University of London. In her role at Betsson, she manages and protects the Group’s intellectual property assets. With a profound understanding of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, Francesca is dedicated to developing and implementing comprehensive IP strategies that align with the Group’s objectives. She collaborates closely with the talented team to drive legal excellence and support Betsson Group’s strategic goals.
Lara Farrugia – Legal Counsel – Rhino Entertainment Group
Lara focuses on commercial law and intellectual property, supporting the business with clear, practical legal advice. Lara has been practicing law since 2019 and has spent nearly four years specialising in the gaming industry. She is passionate about helping businesses safeguard their ideas and strengthen the value of their assets, working closely with teams across the company to support innovation and long-term growth.
